Hi Marco,

gpuViewer is targetted primarily towards digital photography and the parsing logic is currently skipping any JPG that doesn't have an embedded thumbnail (which pictures from the web tend not to have). This will be addressed in a future release.

Hi there :-)
I downloaded v0.0.1.6 because i did see it on a video of the guy calles piednoel from intel, he was showing off the power of the new skulltrail plattform with gpuviever and i thought it's fucking nice :-) the question i have is : i have much more pics in my folder were gpuviever did create it's file, but only 5 or so are displayed in gpuviever. do i have to manipulate my pics? they are random-pic's from the internet. my os is vista64bit with the latest hotfixes.

in general it runs very smooth and looks pro-like :-)

thank you for your great idea with this program :-)

kind greet's marco

Hi Dan,

I would say that "Cannot Open Database" is caused by the folder being read-only (as when trying to index CD/DVDs). For now, gpuViewer expects you to have one directory where you store your pictures and it is that directory that should be selected, you must have read+write access to it as the database will be created there (index.vg file). In the future, you will be able to add extra-directories to this main archive, it isn't in yet because I want to be able to deal with the various sorts of extra folders that you might want to connect to: external drives (that can be disconnected), backups (as in CD/DVDs but also external drives), laptop (different syncing again) and, of course, memory cards...

It might sound more complicated than it should, but I'm quite confident that once implemented this will allow for a lot of automation and be very convenient. It's going to take a little while before it's there though, I'm afraid: when moving files around, extreme care is necessary. We don't want to lose any data...

I'm a new user and in this version only File>'Open Catalog' is available to add images. But on 9 out of 10 folders I click on it has an error: "Cannot open database." So I am unable to add any images :( If I'm doing something wrong, please help, otherwise this is pretty much useless unless there's a feature that will scan your computer (or the files you tell it to) like Picasa.

Most strange... It must be something silly. I can't see Win2000 being a problem, by the way.
v0.0.1.7 shouldn't be too long to arrive, I'll double-check this works on all my machines.

I'm in the same boat as Costa. On Vista here, right-clicking does not do anything for me, unless I'm missing where I'm supposed to do that action?

is there a specific place i should right-click? or use any key in conjunction with it?
I'm using Win2k + SP4 - maybe thats got something to do with it..

Looks nice and clean otherwise
